I would like you to imagine that in front of you is a table.  On the table are three gold eggs on one side and the goose that lays the gold eggs on the other side.  You have a choice to make.  Which would you be willing to invest in, the gold eggs or the goose that lays gold eggs?  Most people quickly choose the goose.  I would as well.  If you choose the gold eggs you are limited to the three gold eggs.  If you choose the goose you can have several gold eggs.  This is because you understand that the goose is the source of the gold eggs.  It makes sense to invest in the creative source not, the eggs themselves.

Of course, there is no such thing as a goose that lays gold eggs.  The story is a metaphor.  In this story, the eggs are a symbol of the things we want such as cars, houses, boats and money.  The goose that lays the gold eggs is a symbol of us, our minds.
