How to Strengthen Your Creative Mind for Success
Jun 11, 2025“The creative faculty becomes more alert, more receptive to vibrations from the sources mentioned, in proportion to its development through USE. This statement is significant! Ponder over it before passing on.” Page 78 “Think and Grow Rich.”
Meet Jenna, a freelance graphic designer in her early 30s. Despite having talent, she was barely making ends meet. Clients were inconsistent, and her income fluctuated every month. She had the desire to succeed, but no consistent plan and no idea how to stand out in a crowded market. That changed when she picked up Think and Grow Rich.
- Desire Is the Starting Point
Jenna connected immediately with Hill’s message about definiteness of purpose. She followed Chapter 2’s 6-step plan and wrote down her clear goal: Earn $10,000/month within 6 months by building a high-end design brand for coaches and online educators. It was the first time she had put her desire into a concrete financial target. But what she didn’t yet understand was how much she needed her creative faculty to get there.
- The Creative Faculty Must Be Developed Through Use
In Chapter 6, Hill's quote about the creative faculty caught her eye: “...more alert... more receptive... in proportion to its development through USE.” Jenna had been waiting for creativity to strike like lightning. But Hill’s insight made her realize: creativity isn't random, it’s a muscle. And like any muscle, it needs to be used and challenged to grow. So she made a shift.
- Training the Creative Mind Daily
Jenna began a new habit: 30 minutes a day of intentional creative work not for clients, but for herself and her vision. Here’s how she developed her creative faculty:
- Sketching bold branding ideas and packaging concepts every morning
- Reverse-engineering top designers’ portfolios to study what works
- Writing out wild “what if” strategies (even the ones that seemed unrealistic)
In less than two weeks, her mind became more receptive, just like Hill said. New ideas flowed faster. She started seeing opportunity everywhere, in social media trends, client feedback, even everyday objects.
Aligning Creativity With the 6-Step Plan
Now, Jenna returned to Hill’s 6 steps, this time armed with a stronger creative engine:
Step 1. Financial Goal. She designed a brand identity that matched a $10K/month business.
Step 2. What to Give. She created premium service packages with irresistible visuals.
Step 3. Deadline. She crafted a countdown-based launch strategy using urgency psychology.
Step 4. Clear Plan. She mapped out a creative marketing funnel with freebies and content.
Step 5. Written Statement. She infused her goal with vivid emotional imagery and voice.
Step 6. Daily Repetition. She saw and felt her goal every day through visual reminders and mood boards.
Hill’s quote isn’t just a nice idea, it’s a challenge. Your success doesn’t depend on waiting for inspiration. It depends on developing your mind into a creative, responsive tool through daily use. Don’t just follow the 6 steps mechanically. Use imagination, visual thinking, and idea generation to fuel them. That’s how your goals become real.
