
How to Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind for Success – Fear vs. Faith

Your subconscious is neutral. It doesn’t judge right or wrong, positive or negative, it just accepts and acts on whatever is repeated and emotionally charged. Feed your mind with fear, doubt, worry, and your subconscious will build a life of limitation, hesitation, and missed opportunities. Feed it with faith, belief, courage, and it will create a life of action, confidence, and realized dreams.
The 6 steps are Hill’s method to intentionally feed your subconscious with thoughts of FAITH, DESIRE, and PURPOSE, instead of fear or doubt. Let’s go through each step and show how it ensures your subconscious receives constructive, empowering material:
Step 1: Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire.
Creates focused, positive thought. Replaces vague wishes or fear-based thinking with clear intention.
Step 2: Determine exactly what you will give in return.
Creates emotional commitment. Builds confidence that you're not hoping, you're invested.
Step 3: Establish a definite date.
Turns a dream into a goal. This pushes back against procrastination and the fear of “someday.”
Step 4: Create a definite plan and begin at once.
Action overcomes fear. Even small steps train the subconscious to associate your goal with movement and progress.
Step 5: Write a clear, concise statement of your goal.
This is your mental script; a command to the subconscious built from courage and faith.
Step 6: Read it aloud twice daily with emotion and belief.
This is the core auto-suggestion practice that Hill says imprints FAITH into the subconscious. Done consistently, this overwrites fear-based thinking with confidence and emotional certainty.
If you’re not intentionally feeding your subconscious with faith-driven thoughts, it will feed on whatever is already there; often fear, doubt, and negativity. That’s why so many people sabotage themselves: they unintentionally program their mind for failure. The 6 steps are a daily discipline of mental control, designed to reverse that process and replace fear with belief.
