Faith Is a Skill Built Through Habit
Napoleon Hill is gently but powerfully reminding us that faith isn’t something you “have” it’s something you develop.
- You don’t need to wait to “feel” faithful.
- You need to create the habit that leads to faith.
This quote reassures you: if your goal feels far off, if your belief is shaky, that’s okay. The process of building faith and programming your subconscious mind simply takes repetition and persistence. It’s not magic. It’s mental conditioning.
How This Fuels the 6-Step Plan from Chapter 2
Step 6. Read your statement twice daily with emotion and faith: You may not feel faith yet. But if you keep repeating this process, especially Step 6, your subconscious mind will gradually accept your goal as reality.
Because the repetition of belief-based actions forms a habit, and the habit creates faith, even if you didn’t have it at the start.
Luis, started reading his goal statement daily but admitted:
“I feel like I’m lying to myself.”
That’s common in the beginning.
So, he made a commitment: stick with it for 30 days, no matter how awkward or unconvincing it felt. By day 17, Luis said something powerful:
“I actually believe this now. I don’t know when it happened, but I feel certain.”
That’s the shift Hill is talking about.
Faith doesn’t come before the habit.
Faith is the reward for showing up consistently.
You don't need to feel confident to start. You just need to start and stick with it.
Your subconscious mind is like a fertile field. It won’t accept seeds of belief unless they’re planted over and over, with care, emotion, and persistence.
That’s why Hill emphasizes:
- Voluntary direction (your 6-step statement)
- Emotional intensity (faith, emotion, desire)
- Daily habit (repetition creates belief)
This is a mental workout. The more you show up, the stronger your belief muscles get.
Start this habit today:
- Read your goal statement aloud morning and night.
- Even if you don’t believe it yet, say it with as much emotion as you can.
- Visualize success, even if it feels awkward or forced.
- Stay consistent for 30 days without missing a single session.
Faith will come. Your subconscious will accept your desire as truth. And your results will change. Patience builds belief. Persistence builds power.
